Refund and Returns Policy
Effective Date: August 30, 2026
Last Updated: August 30, 2026
This Refund and Returns Policy explains the rules that govern reservation deposits, cancellations, refunds, health-related claims, returns, and delivery-related issues for kittens purchased through giantmainecoonkitten.com.
Because kittens are living animals rather than ordinary retail products, they cannot be returned or exchanged in the same manner as merchandise. Every decision made under this Refund and Returns Policy will prioritize the health, safety, and welfare of the kitten. As emphasized by The Humane Society of the United States, the wellbeing of a companion animal should always come first, and our approach reflects that principle.
1. Reservation Deposits
A reservation deposit may be required so that a kitten can be held and removed from availability to other prospective buyers.
Unless different terms are provided in writing before payment is made:
- The reservation deposit for a pet kitten is $500.
- The deposit for a kitten purchased with breeding rights may be 50% of the breeding price.
- Reservation deposits are non-refundable once the kitten has been reserved.
- A kitten is not considered reserved until the required deposit has been received and the reservation has been confirmed by us.
By paying a deposit, you acknowledge that the kitten may be removed from the market and that inquiries from other interested buyers may be declined by us.
Nothing in this Refund and Returns Policy limits any refund rights that cannot legally be waived.
2. Buyer Cancellations Before Pickup or Delivery
If you decide not to proceed with your purchase, please notify us as soon as possible at info@giantmainecoonkitten.com.
If the transaction is canceled by the buyer:
- The reservation deposit remains non-refundable.
- Payments made above the required deposit may be refunded, less any non-recoverable expenses already incurred for the transaction.
- Non-recoverable expenses may include veterinary examinations, health certificates, registration documents, transportation arrangements, airline charges, carrier fees, or other services requested for the kitten.
- A request to transfer a deposit to another available kitten may be considered, but approval is not guaranteed unless transfer rights were included in the written reservation agreement.
- Failure to pay the remaining balance by the agreed deadline may be treated as a buyer cancellation.
Furthermore, changing your mind, finding another kitten, household disagreements, landlord restrictions, allergies, financial difficulties, or a failure to prepare for the kitten do not make a non-refundable deposit refundable.
3. Cancellation by Us
A transaction may be postponed or canceled by us when reasonably necessary because of:
- Illness, injury, or veterinary concerns affecting the kitten
- The kitten not being ready to leave
- Transportation or weather problems
- Safety or animal-welfare concerns
- Materially inaccurate information provided by the buyer
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control
When a delay is temporary, we will work with the buyer to arrange a new pickup or delivery date.
If the sale is permanently canceled by us because the selected kitten cannot be provided, the buyer may choose between:
- Transferring all eligible payments to another available kitten; or
- Receiving a refund of payments made for the unavailable kitten, including the reservation deposit.
However, a refund will not be required when the transaction is canceled because of fraud, a payment reversal, material misrepresentation, illegal activity, or a serious welfare concern caused by the buyer, except where required by law.
4. Final Payments
Unless different arrangements are confirmed in writing, the remaining balance is due:
- At the time of an approved in-person pickup; or
- At least two days before shipping or delivery.
A kitten will not be released, transported, or considered fully paid for until all required funds have been successfully received and confirmed.
5. Returns After the Kitten Has Been Received
Ordinary returns or exchanges are not accepted after the buyer or the buyer’s authorized representative takes possession of the kitten.
Refunds will not normally be provided because of:
- A change of mind
- Allergies affecting the buyer or another household member
- Landlord, housing, or family restrictions
- The kitten’s personality or adjustment period
- Problems introducing the kitten to children or other animals
- Normal changes in coat, color, size, weight, or appearance
- The kitten failing to reach an expected adult size
- Routine veterinary expenses
- Minor or treatable conditions not covered by the written health guarantee
- Injuries, illnesses, neglect, unsafe conditions, inappropriate feeding, or accidents occurring after possession has transferred
A kitten must never be shipped, abandoned, surrendered, resold, or returned to our address without prior written authorization.
6. If You Can No Longer Keep the Kitten
If you are no longer able to care for your kitten, please contact us promptly at info@giantmainecoonkitten.com.
Appropriate rehoming or surrender options may be discussed with you. In addition, any return must be arranged and approved in writing before the kitten is transported. Because rehoming a large, affectionate breed requires careful planning, you may also find it helpful to review our guidance on bringing your kitten home and ongoing care.
Accepting a kitten back does not automatically entitle the buyer to a refund. Unless otherwise required by law or a written purchase agreement, the buyer remains responsible for transportation, veterinary, documentation, and other return-related expenses.
7. Veterinary Examination After Arrival
The kitten should be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours after pickup or delivery.
The examination should assess the kitten’s general condition and establish an initial veterinary record. In addition, the buyer must follow any shorter examination deadline contained in the kitten’s separate purchase agreement or health guarantee.
If a serious health concern that may have existed before the transfer is identified by the veterinarian:
- Notify us in writing within 24 hours of the diagnosis.
- Do not return or transport the kitten without our written approval.
- Obtain a dated and signed veterinary report describing the diagnosis, tests performed, treatment recommendations, and a professional opinion concerning when the condition likely began.
- Provide copies of relevant medical records, test results, invoices, and the kitten’s identification or microchip details.
Failure to obtain the required examination or provide timely documentation may affect eligibility under the applicable health guarantee, except where prohibited by law.
8. The 180-Day Health Warranty
Kittens advertised with a 180-Day Health Warranty are covered only according to the separate written health guarantee or purchase agreement provided for that kitten.
The written health guarantee will determine:
- Conditions covered by the warranty
- Conditions excluded from coverage
- Veterinary examination deadlines
- Documentation and testing requirements
- Claim-submission procedures
- Available remedies
- Whether a second veterinary opinion or necropsy is required
The health warranty does not mean that a kitten is guaranteed to remain free from every illness, injury, parasite, infection, or medical condition during its lifetime. Because certain conditions can be linked to genetics and early development, responsible screening is important; more information about common feline health considerations is available through the American Veterinary Medical Association.
When this Refund and Returns Policy conflicts with a specific written health guarantee concerning a covered health claim, the written health guarantee will control to the extent permitted by law.
9. Health Claim Requirements
To submit a health-related claim, please email the following information to info@giantmainecoonkitten.com:
- Buyer’s full name and contact information
- Kitten’s name and microchip number, if applicable
- Date of pickup or delivery
- A detailed explanation of the concern
- A licensed veterinarian’s signed diagnosis
- Medical records and laboratory results
- Relevant photographs or videos
- Treatment recommendations and invoices
- Any additional information reasonably required to evaluate the claim
Clarification or an examination by another independent licensed veterinarian may be requested by us. However, emergency treatment should never be delayed while a response from us is awaited.
If a kitten dies and a health-guarantee claim is being made, a necropsy performed by a licensed veterinarian or veterinary diagnostic laboratory may be required when reasonably necessary to determine the cause of death.
10. Available Remedies for Approved Health Claims
The remedy for an approved health claim will be determined by the written health guarantee, the purchase agreement, applicable law, and the circumstances of the claim.
Depending on those terms, an approved remedy may include:
- A replacement kitten
- A refund of the eligible kitten purchase price
- A contribution toward approved veterinary treatment
- Another written resolution agreed upon by both parties
Veterinary expenses are not automatically reimbursable. Moreover, no treatment reimbursement is guaranteed unless it is required by law or approved by us in writing.
Delivery charges, financing fees, veterinary expenses, registration expenses, and other third-party costs are not included in a refund unless expressly stated in writing or required by law.
11. Delivery Problems
Please contact us immediately if:
- The kitten does not arrive as arranged.
- The wrong kitten is delivered.
- The kitten appears injured or seriously unwell upon arrival.
- There is a material problem with the agreed transportation service.
Photographs, videos, delivery documents, and a prompt veterinary examination may be required so that the concern can be investigated.
Delivery dates and arrival times are estimates and may be affected by weather, carrier delays, flight changes, veterinary advice, safety concerns, or regulatory requirements. Consequently, a reasonable delivery delay does not automatically qualify for a refund when the kitten remains safe and the delivery can be rescheduled.
12. Transportation and Third-Party Fees
Transportation, airline, flight-nanny, pet-carrier, veterinary-documentation, and other third-party fees may be non-refundable once the relevant service has been booked or performed.
If a refund for a canceled service is issued to us by a third-party provider, the refundable amount received may be passed on to the buyer where appropriate.
13. Refund Processing
Approved refunds will generally be initiated within 10 business days after:
- The claim has been reviewed and approved;
- All required documents have been received;
- Any authorized return has been completed; and
- The final refundable amount has been determined.
The time required for the funds to appear in the buyer’s account will depend on the payment method, bank, financing company, or payment provider.
Whenever reasonably possible, refunds will normally be sent to the original payment method.
14. Financing and Payment Providers
Payments made through financing companies, installment providers, PayPal, or other third-party services may also be subject to the provider’s terms.
An approved refund does not automatically cancel a financing agreement. As a result, the buyer may need to communicate directly with the financing provider after the applicable refund or adjustment is submitted by us.
Processing charges imposed and retained by third-party providers may be non-refundable unless the provider or applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Fraudulent or Unauthorized Payments
Payments suspected of being fraudulent, unauthorized, reversed, disputed, or made using inaccurate information may cause the reservation or transaction to be suspended or canceled.
If you believe a payment was made without your authorization, please contact both your payment provider and us immediately.
16. Policy Relationship to Other Agreements
This Refund and Returns Policy should be read together with our:
- Terms and Conditions
- Kitten reservation agreement
- Purchase agreement
- Written health guarantee
- Delivery agreement
- Other transaction-specific written terms
If a transaction-specific written agreement contains different terms, that agreement will control for the applicable transaction, subject to mandatory consumer rights and applicable law.
17. Changes to This Policy
This Refund and Returns Policy may be updated by us to reflect changes to our business practices, services, or legal obligations.
Changes will apply prospectively and will not improperly remove rights already established under a completed transaction. The “Last Updated” date will show when the most recent revision was made.
